New Food Pyramid

January 10, 20262 min read

I’ve been saying it for years: the food pyramid should be turned upside down.

And now—it officially is.

New Food Pyramid

When I first heard the news, I just smiled. Not because I felt “right,” but because I felt relieved. Relieved that science is finally catching up with what so many of us have known deep down: our bodies were never meant to survive on fear-based food rules, sugar-packed snacks, and low-fat everything.

For decades, we were told to be afraid of meat. Afraid of butter. Afraid of eggs. Afraid of full-fat dairy. Afraid of food that actually nourishes us.

And what did that fear produce?

Exhaustion. Brain fog. Inflammation. Hormone imbalances. Constant cravings. And a generation of people who don’t trust their own bodies.

The new “upside-down” food pyramid puts protein and healthy fats where they belong—at the foundation. It finally acknowledges that real food heals. That sugar and ultra-processed carbs are the real culprits behind so much of our modern illness. That children need protein to thrive—not just to survive.

And I couldn’t agree more.

I’ve watched people come alive when they stop restricting and start nourishing. When they stop fearing food and start fueling their bodies the way God designed. When they trade “low-fat” labels for real nourishment: meat, eggs, butter, whole foods, and simple ingredients.

This isn’t about dieting.

This is about freedom.

Freedom from confusion.

Freedom from shame.

Freedom from hunger that never seems satisfied.

Your body isn’t broken.

It’s underfed.

Sometimes I think God allows us to struggle—not to punish us, but to wake us up. To help us see that the old way wasn’t working. To invite us into something better.

And maybe that’s what this flipped pyramid really represents: a chance to unlearn what never served us… and return to what always did.

Real food.

Real nourishment.

Real health.

No fear required.
